Our Advisors
Suliman Gargoum, PhD.
Dr. Suliman Gargoum is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) School of Engineering, Cofounder of Nektar 3D Consulting Inc., and the Founding Director of the Smart Analytics Lab for Modelling Advanced and Livable Infrastructure Systems (SALMALIS) at UBC. Dr. Gargoum holds a PhD in Transportation Engineering. His work focuses on the use of Artificial Intelligence and smart sensing technology for advanced road safety analytics, creation of digital infrastructure for autonomous driving, and informed design and management of transportation infrastructure. Over the past five years, he has published over 40 peer-reviewed research papers in top tier transportation journals and conference proceedings and has received multiple awards. This includes multiple accolades from the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC), the US Transportation Research Board (TRB),Canada’s Institute of Transportation Engineer’s (CITE), and Alberta Innovates.
Thorne Forrest, P. ENG
Thorne is an Experienced Engineer with a demonstrated knowledge of road safety and the road construction industry. Thorne is skilled in Work Zone Safety, Traffic Engineering, and Road Design. He has worked with private companies, municipalities, and large JV’s to tackle some of Canada’s most high-profile traffic infrastructure projects.
